In recent years, the ecosystem service approach has received considerable attention from private and public decision-makers. However, numerous questions still remain about the limitations of this approach and its ability to address complex sustainable development challenges. This public seminar aims to bring these questions into a discussion forum.
Three panelists will present the economic, social, and ecological perspectives of the ecosystem service approach. In particular, the presentations will help defining the state of current research and will provide clarity for determining the way forward. Additionally, local ecosystem service specialists, Indufor Oy., will present the private-sector case for the ecosystem service approach. Following the presentations, there will be time for public debate and questions for the panellists. The panel discussion will be open to all interested stakeholders.
