During my hosting of Professor Inta Mieriņa at the Aleksanteri Institute, we strengthened our academic collaboration. As a result, we are now co-authoring an article that builds on our shared research interests.
Visiting professor
Her specialization is in political sociology, and she is particularly interested in issues related to the new forms of migration, integration and the context of reception, political attitudes and behavior, as well as inter-ethnic relations, particularly in the context of the war in Ukraine. She is the director of the Centre for Diaspora and Migration Research and a tenure professor at the University of Latvia. Currently, She is leading the Latvian Council of Sciences (LCS) grant “Reception of migrants under conditions of uncertainty: governance and local level inclusion”, and she is a senior researcher in the LCS project “The Baltic Russophone identity in flux: Political behavior, boundary making, and media practices after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine”.
During her visit, she was awarded one of the most prestigious ERC Consolidator Grants 2024. She will lead an international research team, which for the next five years will study the differences and reasons for public attitudes towards migrants in the context of Russia’s war against Ukraine.
