The International Oat Conference has been held every four years since 1982. The 9th International Oat Conference is being organized by the Institute of Crop Science, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, in collaboration with relevant organizations in China and with the support of oat workers around the world. China has a long history of growing oats and is one of the most important oat producers and consumers in the world. Oat has become well recognized as a nutritious and healthy food in China, as well as in other parts of the world. In recent years, oat research and development has been strongly supported by the Chinese central government as one of fifty Modern Agricultural Technology Research Systems in the country. Beijing, the capital of China, is not only the cultural and political centre of the country, but also one of the greatest tourist attractions in the world. Among its many wonders, Beijing has Tian'anmen Square - the largest central square in the world, the Forbidden City - the largest and best-preserved imperial palace, the Great Wall - the longest man-made structure, and the Temple of Heaven - the largest ancient sacred complex in the world, which attracts millions of visitors every year. The Organizing Committee of the 9th International Oat Conference cordially invites all oat researchers, growers, processors, nutrition specialists, and those who are interested in oat research and development to participate in the Conference to share academic viewpoints, present research findings, exhibit oat products, and develop collaborations. Participants will have the opportunity to visit the global oat nursery and local experimental fields, as well as do some sight-seeing in Beijing.
