Webinar: Phenomenal Teacher Education from Finland

This free webinar was an excellent opportunity to learn about the latest trends in Finnish education. Three presenters put the matter in a global perspective with their own broad international experience. Professor Kirsti Lonka gave a general introduction to the new national K12 curriculum, including 21st century competencies and interdisciplinary learning (also known as phenomenon-based learning). Professor Jari Lavonen then explained how the learning of these 21st century competencies is emphasized in science education. Finally, Adjunct Professor, Dr. Markus Talvio demonstrated the importance of social and emotional learning in teacher education as well as in schools.
