Beskrivning

This presentation introduces a research project that aims at harnessing the power of technologically aided collaborative musical creation to foster social change towards a more sustainable future. The research project builds around the initiative named #Meeiollamaailma (#WeOrTheWorld?), which offers a platform for novel educational songs that could be used in institutional contexts, such as kinder gardens, schools, civic organizations and universities. The content of the platform was made during interventions that guided student teachers to challenge the moral and ecological problems of a human-centered worldview through songwriting and music producing and through reflecting their artistic process. Using qualitative content analysis method on produced songs and students’ reflections around their creative processes the research project seeks an answer to the following overarching question: In what ways can songwriting and music producing challenge human-centered worldview in the context of formal music education?
The research project uses design-based research as a methodological toolkit. This means that the platform goes through continuous cycles of design, enactment, analysis, and redesign. The first cycle aims at developing the conceptual prototype of the platform. During the second cycle, the published platform will be promoted through artistic and scientific publications and events, and in social media. At the same time, the platform will be re-developed based on user feedback. During the third cycle, the pedagogical guidelines on the institutional use of the WeOrTheWorld? projects are generalized.
