Finland tops the list of countries in terms of media literacy .

Finnish students have learned critical thinking skills since elementary school. Finland is especially sensitive to fake news through its neighborhood with Russia: the Finns have the longest border with Russia.

"The way the Finnish government has engaged all stakeholders to increase media literacy in schools can be used as a model for other countries, says Gwenaëlle Bauvois. Teaching media literacy from an early age can be one of the keys to avoiding the devastating effects of misinformation.

“But this movement needs to start at the highest level of society. Decisions must come from the government, the Ministry of Education. And there must be a willingness to engage everyone - from the top to the bottom. ”
