    The Finnish Museum of Natural History is one of Finland’s three national museums and, as defined in the Universities Act, is entrusted with preserving, accumulating and exhibiting national collections in the field of natural sciences as well as with carrying out related research and education. The national collections include botanical, zoological, geological and paleontological samples and observation materials from around the world and are part of a global network of biodiversity data resources. The museum provides versatile services to international research, environmental administration, university programmes and lifelong learning. Furthermore, the Laboratory of Chronology is a nationally unique core facility -level research infrastructure, which applies methods from the natural sciences and has a wide operating environment. The laboratory is located on the Kumpula Campus.
