My research deals with dialectal syntax, a rapidly growing field of linguistic research. By examining the relative clause in Torlak, I will address two important theoretical and methodological questions: 1) how emerging linguistic variation in the bordering area can be studied; 2) how dialectological study can be enriched with the inclusion of other than the traditional data.

After the grammatical parameters and variation have been established in the first article, I will continue in the later articles to approach the same phenomenon from different perspectives, including language contact, social parameters, and, finally, language attitudes.
