My current project "Metacognitive Magic Mirrors" explores imagination and speculation in the framework of cognitive literary studies. The articles planned for the project will inquire, among other things, how creativity is portrayed in speculative fiction, how the writers of speculative fiction describe their imaginative work in their essays, what kind of speculation images and drawing enable, and how artistic imagination flows into artistic speculation. Typically, academic research aims to explain art with scientific means, but this project is more interested in what science could learn from art.
