Information om forskning och undervisning

I’m a professor of conservation biology at the Finnish Natural History Museum (LUOMUS) and the Faculty of Biological and Environmental Sciences. The main focus of my work is in systematic conservation planning, climate change impacts and decision-making under uncertainty. I’m particularly interested in spatial conservation optimisations, spanning from reserve network design to cost-efficient management and biodiversity offsetting. I haven’t really specialized myself to any species or taxa, but somehow I often end up working with birds. I also spend way too much time in front of a computer than any self-respecting biologist should.
