Information om forskning och undervisning

I’m an interdisciplinary researcher specialising in the ecological, social, societal, and perhaps even the philosophical questions of biodiversity conservation. I have a background in ecology and sustainability science, and work as a university lecturer of the green sector at the Department of Agricultural Sciences.

My ongoing and past research projects concern topics such as restoration planning of urban grasslands, multifunctionality of urban green infrastructure, the social values for biodiversity in cities, and the role of novel ecosystems as habitats of declining grassland species.

I am the responsible teacher on the green sector module AGRI-290 and on courses therein such as AGRI-291-3. My past experience in teaching and supervision relate to topics such as nature-based solutions, urban ecology, and the intersection between urban green infrastructure and environmental justice.

My research has been funded by the Finnish Foundation for Nature Conservation, the Turku University Foundation, the Kone Foundation, the Finnish Society for Sciences and Letters, and the Ella & Georg Ehrnrooth Foundation. I have also worked as a post-doctoral researcher in the consortium CO-CARBON and at the Helsinki Institute of Sustainability Science HELSUS.
