Information om forskning och undervisning

Katja Kahlina has joined the University of Helsinki, Department of Philosophy, History, Culture & Art Studies (Gender Studies unit) as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow. Previously she worked at the University of Edinburgh as a Research Fellow on the CITSEE (Europeanisation of Citizenship in the Successor States of the Former Yugoslavia) project and as a member of Global Justice Academy. Katja holds a Ph.D. in Comparative Gender Studies from Central European University. Her research interests/fields of expertise include Gender and Sexuality Studies; Citizenship Studies; Queer, Feminist and Postcolonial Theories; and Social Movements Studies. Katja’s publications address the ways in which gender and sexual politics intersect with nationalism and (neoliberal) globalisation, as well as with social institutions and categories of citizenship, nationality, ethnicity, and religion. She is currently leading a group project Sexuality and Democracy (SEXDEM) that is funded by the Kone Bold Initiatives.
