Women in the aftermath of the Second World War

What was the fate of women in Germany in 1945? Part of them were natives while others were young women deported by the Third Reich from their native occupied countries towards Germany to work as Forced Labourers. Whilst freeing Europe from the Nazis, the Allies transformed the latter into a new category, the Displaced Persons (DPs). In 1945, amid ruins, German women and DPs women chose to rebuild their life in France, as a companion of a French Prisoner of War (POW) or French deportees of Compulsory Work Service (STO). My main objective is to give voices to these women, resurface these forgotten narratives, and explore in a balanced analysis, how far they were objectified.
