I am Adjunct Professor (Docent) in Social and Public Policy and Research Manager at the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare.
I am specialised in comparative welfare state research and studying social and economic inequalities. In my research I examine welfare states mechanisms and policy outcomes on different groups of population, such as single parents, social assistance recipients, persons with limited work capability, and low wage workers (e.g. domestic and care workers). My fields of interest include employment and labour market, social benefits and services, family policies and families’ wellbeing, and politics of gender and care.
My research has been published in several peer-reviewed journals in the field of social sciences, such as Journal of European Social Policy, Journal of Social Policy and Social Politics. In addition to academic research and as part of my current position at the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare, I have conducted policy evaluation and monitoring for the Finnish government on different policies and programs, including the Finnish Work-Ability Program (2020-2023), impacts of the COVID-19 crisis on gender equality in Finland (2020-2022), the Social Assistance reform (2019) and the Finnish Inclusive Social Security experiment (2018-2019). Since 2020, I have been involved in several research projects studying the social and economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic in Finland.
