Minna-Kerttu Maarja Kekki

Minna-Kerttu Kekki (PhD, DSocSci) is a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre for European Studies, University of Helsinki. She is a political philosopher with a multidisciplinary background in philosophy, education, and history. Her current research topics include the political phenomenology of Edith Stein, theory (phenomenology) of collective memory, and the Soviet histories and memories of Estonians and Ingrians. In the project The Experience of Injustice: Property, Legality and Identity in Rural Eastern Europe from 1945 to 1995 (EastJustice), she focuses on Estonia, especially the area of Tartu.

 

Previously, Kekki has conducted research on media-based communication in the public sphere. She has authored the books “The Potential of Public Discussion in Media: Philosophy of Democracy and Misinformation” (2024) and “Lempi Lempisen matka Suomenlahden ympäri” [Lempi Lempinen’s journey around the Gulf of Finland] (2022). Her doctoral dissertations examined the informal learning through media-based public discussion (2022, University of Oulu) and the sociopolitical aspects of Edith Stein’s early works (2025, University of Helsinki). Her articles have appeared in journals including Continental Philosophy Review, Journal of the British Society for Phenomenology, Journal of Philosophy of Education, and Nations and Nationalism.
