I work as an Academy of Finland post-doc fellow investigating how plants respond to environmental stress. I am intrigued how plant integrates signals from different cellular compartments and regulates stress responses in accordance with their developmental stage. In my research, I have focused on organellar signaling and the post-translational regulation of plant stress responses by protein phosphatases. Currently, I study how young seedlings cope with stress induced mitochondrial dysfunction.  I believe that thorough understanding of mechanisms that regulate plant stress resilience is crucial for breeding of more resilient and nutritious crops that lay the basis for sustainable food system. 

In addition, I have previously worked with edible macroalga of the Baltic Sea and investigated their potential as raw material for food and feed applications. Moreover, I have studied the EU regulation of alternative proteins and how regulation affects the transition to more sustainable protein sources.
