I work as an Academy of Finland post-doc fellow investigating how plants regulate their central metabolism under environmental stress. I am intrigued how plant integrates signals from different cellular compartments and activate stress responses in accordance with their developmental stage. In my research, I focus on the role of mitochondria as central regulators of plant stress responses, metabolic adjustments and redox homeostasis.  I believe that thorough understanding of mechanisms that contribute to plant stress resilience is crucial for breeding of more resilient and nutritious crops that lay the basis for sustainable food system. 

In addition, I have previously worked with edible macroalga of the Baltic Sea and investigated their potential as raw material for food and feed applications. Moreover, I have studied the EU regulation of alternative proteins and how regulation affects the transition to more sustainable protein sources.
