Information om forskning och undervisning

I have a primary interest in the identification of natural products in food and the risk assessment of hazardous substances. My final goal is to develop analytical methods, investigate how toxic substances in food affect humans, and confirm whether the level of the hazardous compound in food is safe for humans.

During my PhD program, I was involved in numerous research projects relating to the analysis of hazardous chemicals in food, risk assessment of food additives, and effects of natural products such as glucosinolates and their breakdown products on the thyroid. My PhD research was to develop the analytical method for artificial sweeteners and evaluate the exposure levels in the Korean population. I gained experience in using analytical instruments such as HPLC-UV/ELSD, GC-MS, and LC-HRMS, and statistical skills for the SAS program.

After I completed my PhD, I worked in the Advanced Analysis Center of Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST). In KIST, I developed and validated multi-mycotoxin analysis for total diet study (TDS) using UPLC-MS/MS.

As a postdoctoral researcher, I'm working in the Department of Food and Nutrition at the University of Helsinki. I have participated in the project, POWERGRAIN, and mainly focus on mycotoxins.
