Professor of Botany Jouko Rikkinen has been awarded with the a non-fiction prize for writers. The prize worth € 8 000 was given by the Finnish Association of Non-fiction Writers on 25 October. Professor Rikkinen is known especially for his research about the symbiosis between algae and fungi but he is also a well-known and esteemed non-fiction writer.
His career amongst the non-fiction literature started on 1995. He has published several books that focus on identification of garden ornamentals as well as native bryophytes and lichens, trees and shrubs, and grasses, sedges and rushes.
