Beskrivning (abstrakt)

The objectives were to evaluate the simplified radionuclide transport concept used in assessing the safety of the underground waste repositories and to examine radionuclide retention processes in solute transport through rock fractures focused on the matrix diffusion, and estimate importance of the retention processes during transport in different scales and flow conditions.

Conceptualization of advection-dispersion and matrix diffusion in sufficient accuracy to reproduce the experimental results and build confidence on the model predictions of the solute retention in groundwater flow.
Demonstration of the effects of the matrix diffusion on the mobile tracer breakthrough curves using two different experimental configurations.
Knowledge and understanding the transport and retention processes transferable to different scales.
