Interpersonal subjectivity and empathic reading

According to social neuroscience the human body imitates the other person's emotions, intentions, and activities both during viewing and reading narratives. In literature, this phenomenon becomes palpable through different kinds of linguistic expressions, which can be studied with the methods of cognitive narratology. The translator of a foreign language benefits from an embodied, affective simulation of the other person's text, but also every reader simulates the text, whereupon the reader's attitude to her/his life experiences can change.
