Korona yhteiskunnan marginaaleissa. Matalan kynnyksen yhteisöjen osahanke.

Korona vaikuttaa kaikkiin, mutta jo valmiiksi haavoittuvassa asemassa olevat ihmiset kärsivät epidemian vaikutuksista eniten. Korona yhteiskunnan marginaaleissa -hankkeessa kysytään, miten asunnottomat, ruoka-apua tarvitsevat ja matalan kynnyksen yhteisöissä asioivat ihmiset voivat, sekä kehitetään heidän tarvitsemiaan palveluita poikkeusoloissa ja niiden jälkeen.

Helsingin yliopiston osahanke toteutetaan osana Tampereen yliopiston johtamaa (johtaja sosiaalioikeuden professori Laura Kalliomaa-Puha) konsortiota. Muut hankekumppanit ovat Diakonia-ammattikorkeakoulu ja Porin Sininauha ry. Tutkimusta rahoittaa Euroopan sosiaalirahasto (ESR).

Helsingin yliopiston osahankkeessa tutkitaan matalan kynnyksen yhteisöjen asiakkaiden (mm. päihde- ja mielenterveyshaasteista kärsivät) hyvinvointia ja selviytymistä sekä matalan kynnyksen yhteisöjen mahdollisuuksia tukea asiakkaidensa hyvinvointia ja selviytymistä. Tutkimus toteutetaan kyselytutkimuksena matalan kynnyksen yhteisöjen kävijöille ja täydentävänä kyselytutkimuksena yhteisöjen työntekijöille eri puolella Suomea.

Covid at the margins of welfare state project investigates what the COVID-19 pandemic has meant for the homeless, people in need of food assistance, and the clients of low-threshold services. We also ask how their services could be developed during the pandemic and after it.

The sub-project at the University of Helsinki is carried out as a part of a consortium led by University of Tampere (professor Laura Kalliomaa-Puha). The other project partners are Diaconia University of Applied Sciences (DIAK), and the Sininauha Association of Pori. The project is funded by the European Social Fund.

At the University of Helsinki, the focus is on exploring what COVID-19 has meant for the wellbeing and coping of people attending low-threshold meeting places (for example, meeting places for people with substance abuse or mental health problems). We are interested in the wellbeing and welfare service usage of people attending these places, and their coping during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, we focus on the role of the low threshold meeting places in their wellbeing and coping, and what COVID-19 has meant for the work of these meeting places.

We will explore the topic by conducting a survey to attendees and a complementary survey to employees of different meeting places in different parts of Finland.
