Beskrivning (abstrakt)
NatureGate R&D Program was founded by Prof. Mauri Ahlberg, Producer Eija Lehmuskallio, and Nature Photographer Jouko Lehmuskallio on February 28, 2006. The NatureGate R&D Program aims to promote the sustainable use of biodiversity and species identification. NatureGate online service is researched as such and as part of larger learning environments. From the beginning, digital mapping of species distribution using GIS and cumulative collaborative knowledge building has been planned to become part of NatureGate. Specially designed learning and teaching materials, simulations, and serious educational games will be attached to NatureGate. Since 2009, there has been a NatureGate online magazine in Finnish.
