Beskrivning (abstrakt)
The disease situation on vegetable plantations in South Savo is mapped and new means of preventing diseases are sought in the project. Fungi and bacteria causing diseases are recognised with traditional and PCR-methods and with sequencing. The spreading routes of disease begetters are mapped and the prevention of diseases is tested with biofumication and other biological control substances.
In the project the possibility to combine the use of trap plants and biofumication plants on vegetable plantations is examined, in which case it is possible to hold nutrients better and to prevent them from being washed into water systems and simultaneously to reduce crop loss on vegetable plantations, caused by soil-borne diseases.
The project is carried out in cooperation with AgriFood Research Finland.
