Projektinformation

Beskrivning (abstrakt)

Traditional costumes and crafts are a basic form and element of our traditional culture; they are the artistic form of historical and cultural significance and an essential path for carrying on the traditional art culture. National crafts and costumes serve as a creative source, showing the full potential of using ethnic components, motifs, and structures in contemporary fashion design. TRACtion project explores and investigates traditional crafts and costumes related to Cultural Heritage and Fashion within three different countries. The significance and value of traditional costumes and crafts in modern industrial design will be pointed out through this research and analysis. Also, the project will identify and address difficulties confronting traditional crafts and costumes to contribute to the long-term viability of conventional craft cultural heritage and ensure the continuing transfer of craft skills and knowledge from generation to generation.
The main objective of the TRACtion project is in line with the CREA Programme’s goal of safeguarding, developing, and promoting European cultural and linguistic diversity and heritage. We will safeguard costumes and crafts from three different countries (Malta, Finland, and Ireland), promote their cultural heritage, and use them as an inspiration source for modern, innovative, and sustainable fashion designs.
