Transition to adulthood as goal-directed projects for youth with intellectual disabilities and their parents.



It was the aim of the study to address how parents who are parenting youth with developmental disabilities act together to facilitate the transition to adulthood, including transitions to post-secondary education, employment, living independently of parents, and relationship choices. While many people are engaged with young people in the transition to adulthood, this transition can be particularly challenging for parents of youth who have developmental disabilities. The study uses the Action-Project method.
