Beskrivning (abstrakt)
The relationship of young Europeans with history was last extensively studied in 1995, when the University of Hamburg led a study entitled Youth and History. Some 35 000 young people from 27 European countries took part. The survey is due to be repeated, with minor changes, in 2024. This Youth and History II survey will involve several European countries and will be led by Professor Carlo Spagnolo of the University of Bari. The survey will not only provide information on the historical knowledge, skills, perceptions, and attitudes of young Europeans, but will also provide an opportunity to compare and assess the changes occurred in their attitude towards history over the last 30 years.
Youth and History II is being prepared and implemented in Finland by a working group from the Universities of Turku and Helsinki. The Finnish project is led by Professor Jan Löfström from the University of Turku. From Helsinki, the project is carried out by Professor Jukka Rantala, Docent Najat Ouakrim-Soivio, University Lecturer Tanja Taivalantti and Lecturer Johanna Norppa.
