Sammanfattning

Regardless of state policy, there were always groups of people who considered themselves believers, hesitating, unbelievers, or atheists. The purpose of this article is to acquaint readers with the peculiarities of religiosity of Estonians and ethnicity of Russians in Estonia. The source material for it was the 1998 survey (N = 997), which was later used by the author in the study (Liiman 2001; 2002). In addition, the article considers the question of which church traditions are adhered to by the majority of Estonians and Russians. It is taken into account that in addition to the Soviet period, other important historical events influenced the religiosity of today's Estonians and Russians, the impact of which should be taken into account when considering the current situation.
