Sammanfattning

A circular economy promises growth and jobs without adverse
environmental impacts and is a concept that policy and business alike
have embraced. This chapter describes the concept of a circular
economy and how it is applied in the European Union. This evolving
European policy application of a circular economy is then compared
against applications of a circular economy in another economic power
i.e. China, in business networks and of public agents of a large and a
small European economy. The chapter argues that the European Union
has a timely opportunity to build partnerships with other kinds of
actors to promote the targets it sets for circular economy. On-going
policy activities relating to a circular economy also indicate that
business networks and public agents may offer new forms of policy
support through networking practices and value creation, for instance.
