Sammanfattning

In this article we discuss about the basic elements of Finnish experiences on teacher preparation and especially the experiences of practicum in teacher preparation. We introduce the main principles, elements and aims of the Finnish research-based teacher education, the elements of teacher education curriculum design and we give examples of best practices in organizing the practicum in teacher preparation. We also talk a bit about the new comprehensive school curriculum with its new transformative goals and norms to integrate subjects to understand why also teacher education needs to renew in this global change. If we aim to upgrade the societies infrastructure, improve the educational administration as well as enrich the teacher education curriculum, we need to be aware of the value basis and aims of teacher education.
