Sammanfattning

A teaching laboratory for schools, located outside of school, may give novel possibilities for supporting students’ learning and studying of sciences through practical work and help teachers in developing their teaching. This paper discusses how a non-formal learning environment such as ChemistryLab Gadolin (as a part of LUMA Centre Finland) can support the developing of practical work, teaching in schools, interest in science and teacher training in interaction with the university and industry. The focus on this paper is mainly on design-based research and how it can help us to develop pedagogical innovations -relevant practical work- used in teaching different aged children and adolescents.
