Sammanfattning

The CASI project produces a great number of policy briefs at European
and national levels as a part of its policy watch. The topics addressed
during the first year included smart cities, eco-innovation and
environmental policy, public and pre-commercial procurement, and
growth with a focus on resource efficiency. This chapter reviews the
CASI policy brief process and its outcomes during the first project year
of 2014. The chapter argues that CASI policy briefs have succeeded in
drawing attention to timely and on-going policy processes, and built
connections between European, national and local level activities. At
the same time, the chapter acknowledges that policy development in
the field not always adheres to the classification of policy levels and
that the process may limit the emergence of potential policy agendas
at national and local levels as well as impede on the identification of
conflicting or adverse policies. The CASI project shall address these
concerns in future work through the selection of policy topics and
analytical approach.
