Sammanfattning
This chapter highlights Swedish diplomat Count Creutz as a protector of opera and an agent of literary and cultural transfers. It examines his interest in opera from the perspective of the consumer, patron, poet and librettist. Artistic circulations here appear in a transnational context, where the modelling of taste obeys not only an aristocratic logic of prestige, but also a larger vision for the progress of the arts and letters.
