Sammanfattning
"Interdisciplinary research strategies of biological cultural heritage – surveying, archiving, analysing and sharing historical DNA from Finnhorses” is a major research project funded by the Alfred Kordelin Foundation (2019–2021). The project studies the origins and breeding of the Finnhorse. To date, 45 samples of horse hair, bone or skin have been collected from the Pirkanmaa region (or Tampere Region). DNA analysis of the samples provides information about the horses, such as trot characteristics and size. One key objective is to study local horse populations using mitochondrial DNA.
