Sammanfattning
A 9-year-old female domestic shorthair cat presented with chronic unilateral haemorrhagic nasal discharge and a mass on the forehead. Complete blood count showed severe leukocytosis with marked mature neutrophilia and mild monocytosis and lymphopenia. Computed tomography of the head demonstrated a soft-tissue mass in the right nasal cavity and frontal sinus perforating the skull. Histopathological examination of the mass revealed an invasive sinonasal adenocarcinoma. Leukocytosis was suspected to be paraneoplastic in origin since no signs of infection, inflammation or bone marrow neoplasia were evident. Feline nasal tumours are rare and mainly malignant. The most important diagnostics are computed tomography, rhinoscopy and histopathologic examination of tissue biopsies. Early diagnosis may enable early treatment, lengthen survival time and improve prognosis and quality of life.
