Bridging the gap between formal eduaction and learning in informal contexts

    Sammanfattning

    The terminology of informal education is variable, due to, on the one hand, the slight difficulties caused by differences in school systems and, on the other, some translation problems. One of the main difficulties is that pure learning in informal contexts refuses to be categorised, and the definitions are not needed until it becomes institutionalised. Learning in informal contexts and open learning environments are the latest terminology in the field.Out-of-school education is also a term included in school legislation in several countries. Out-of-school education often uses informal education sources for formal education. It forms a pedagogical link between formal and informal education. Outdoor education is one form of out-of-school education.
