Sammanfattning
The Finnish Theatre toured Eastern Finland, Vyborg and St Petersburg regularly from 1893 until the end of century, mainly because the Finnish-speaking audinece in Helsinki was small, and there was a big Finnish colony in the Russian capital. There troupe performed in various venues in Finnish plays by Kivi, Canth, Numers, and also classics, Shakespeare and Schiller, as well as modern plays. In the drama of Ibsen, particularly, Ida Aalberg was enthusiastically received by the Russian and German press in St Petersburg. At the same time, Finnish actors studied the theatres of the metropole.
