Curriculum vitae

Central to my work is the question of how race, class, and gender are revised and remade in the contexts of East-West migration, and how global and local processes of racialisation produce valued and devalued categories of workers. I have done ethnographic research in Helsinki and Warsaw.  

Since September 2025, I have been an Academy Research Fellow and a principal investigator of "Manicuring Intimacy: Feminised labour, (self-)care, and racialised encounters in nail salons’ (INTIMATE, 2025-2029) funded by the Research Council of Finland.  

I also lead the project "Life-Breaking and Life-Making: Social Reproduction and Survival in Times of Collapse" (2023-2026, funded by the Kone Foundation, with project members Olga Tkach, Eugenia Pesci and Roman Urbanowicz)

My first monograph "Race and Labour among Russian Migrants: Reclaiming Whiteness in Europe" will be published by Bristol University Press in May 2026. I am also a co-editor of "Europeanisation as Violence: Souths and Easts as Method" (Manchester University Press, 2025).

I serve on the editorial board of the Sociological Research Online 

I supervise MA and PhD students in the fields of migration, critical race, gender and labour.
